Roles and responsibilities
- Mechanical Systems: Understanding of mechanical components such as motors, gears, actuators, and drives used in automated systems.
- Electrical Systems: Proficiency in wiring, electrical circuits, and understanding of electrical components like sensors, controllers, and relays.
- Control Systems: Knowledge of control systems (PLC, SCADA) to monitor and regulate automated processes.
- Robotics: Experience with industrial robots, robotic arms, and automation systems for production or manufacturing environments.
- Hydraulics and Pneumatics: Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in automation and machinery.
Software and Programming Skills
- PLC Programming: Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Functional Block Diagrams (FBD), or Structured Text (ST).
- CAD and CAM Software: Experience with CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor for designing mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Simulation Software: Knowledge of simulation software to model and test automation systems (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or other automation simulation tools).
- Embedded Systems: Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators in embedded system design for automation.
- HMI Design: Understanding of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems for operator control and monitoring of machines and processes.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving
- Diagnostic Skills: Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software faults in automated systems.
- Root Cause Analysis: Identifying the underlying causes of system failures or malfunctions and proposing corrective actions.
- Maintenance Planning: Performing preventive maintenance and diagnosing wear and tear on mechanical or electrical components.
- Repair and Calibration: Ability to repair, recalibrate, and optimize systems for maximum efficiency.
Automation and Process Optimization
- System Integration: Ensuring seamless integration between mechanical, electrical, and software systems in automated environments.
- Automation Programming: Writing or modifying programs for automation processes such as assembly lines, packaging, or material handling systems.
- Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities for improving system efficiency, reducing downtime, or optimizing the performance of automated systems.
- Data Logging and Analysis: Using data from sensors and controllers to monitor performance and suggest optimizations.
Safety and Compliance
- Safety Standards: Knowledge of safety regulations for working with electrical equipment, machinery, and robotics (e.g., OSHA, IEC standards).
- Lockout/Tagout Procedures: Familiarity with lockout/tagout practices to ensure safe maintenance and repairs.
- Electrical Safety: Proficiency in electrical safety practices, including handling high-voltage systems, grounding, and proper insulation techniques.
- Risk Assessment: Identifying hazards in automation systems and applying mitigation strategies.
Communication Skills
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with engineers, designers, and other technicians to solve problems and implement solutions.
- Documentation: Writing maintenance logs, system manuals, troubleshooting guides, and reports for technical staff and clients.
- Technical Support: Providing support to operators, engineers, and other team members on system operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Client Communication: Interacting with clients to understand system needs and provide solutions.
Desired candidate profile
Maintain and troubleshoot various equipments i.e. Plasma Cutting and Robot Cutting machines; all kinds of DC Motor Drives and Controllers for various workshop machineries.
Carry out Preventive Maintenance to above equipments (including Vibration analysis)
Ensure materials are of required standard prior to use, reporting damages when required.
Ensure that proper housekeeping is maintained throughout the production process.
Report work status / progress, tools damage and process errors to the respective team leader
Maintain good working relationship with workers, appointed foreman, supervisors and management.
Perform duties of a Foreman as required / appointed for individual projects.
Attend any training for any activity required by the department.
Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work
Desired Candidate Profile
Good technical knowledge about: Plasma Cutting and all kinds of DC Motor Drives and Controllers for various workshop machineries.
Preferably additional technical skills on Robot cutting machines, AC motor drives, inverters, PLC Transducers, communication systems etc.
Thorough technical knowhow on electronics and electrical fields.
Ability to read and interpret complex drawings.
Good in troubleshooting skills
Knowledge regarding Preventive Maintenance process (including Vibration analysis)
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
