Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Job Title: Electrician (Maintenance Department)

Location: Dubai (Candidate must be available in Philipine)

Industry: Power & Energy

Experience: 5 - 10 Years

Diploma in Electrical Engineering / HSC or SSC & Trade Certificate

Minimum 5 years for trade certificate holder and 3 years for Diploma holder with hands-on experience in electrical maintenance of equipment like Generators, Transformers, LV/HV Motors, Switchgear, EOT Cranes, Batteries, Chargers & Inverters etc. in a power plant or process industry. Should have ability to understand control wiring & schematic drawings. Must possess safety procedures knowledge.

1. Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Electrical Systems: A strong understanding of electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, wiring, and circuits. Knowledge of different types of electrical systems (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial) and their specific requirements.
  • Wiring and Circuitry: Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, outlets, switches, and circuit breakers.
  • Electrical Codes: Familiarity with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC in the U.S.), which regulate the installation and repair of electrical systems for safety and compliance.
  • Panel Installation and Maintenance: Ability to install and maintain electrical panels and circuit breakers, ensuring they function properly and safely.
  • Transformer and Motor Knowledge: Understanding of electrical transformers and motors, how they function, and the skills to repair or replace them when necessary.

2. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics

  • Fault Diagnosis: Strong problem-solving skills to identify electrical faults, whether in circuits, panels, or devices, and using tools to diagnose issues.
  • Testing Equipment: Ability to use testing tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and circuit testers to measure voltage, resistance, and current to identify faults or system performance issues.
  • Circuit Analysis: Ability to analyze and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand how electrical systems are designed to function and troubleshoot accordingly.

3. Installation and Maintenance

  • System Installation: Installing new electrical systems, including wiring, outlets, panels, and lighting, in both new construction and renovation projects.
  • Routine Maintenance: Performing regular inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure they are functioning safely and efficiently.
  • Upgrades: Upgrading outdated electrical systems, replacing old wiring, and ensuring they meet modern standards and safety regulations.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • Electrical Safety Practices: Adhering to electrical safety standards to prevent electrical hazards such as electric shock, fire, and equipment damage. Familiarity with practices like lockout/tagout (LOTO) for ensuring safety during maintenance work.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Using appropriate PPE, such as insulated gloves, goggles, and face shields, to protect from electrical hazards.
  • Code Compliance: Ensuring all electrical installations and repairs comply with relevant safety codes, regulations, and standards to prevent accidents and ensure legal compliance.

5. Physical and Manual Dexterity

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy equipment or working in confined spaces like attics, basements, or rooftops.
  • Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills to work with small tools, solder connections, and manipulate wiring in tight spaces, ensuring the accuracy and quality of installations.
