Roles and responsibilities
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Instrumentation / Electronics Engineering from a reputed university.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry during Concept, Select, Design and EPC stages of various onshore and offshore projects, experience on offshore projects is essential.
- Fluency in English Language.
- Conversant with relevant International Code & Standards and ADNOC standards related to engineering and in general Oil & Gas industry.
- Good knowledge of all Field Instrumentation, Instrument sizing calculations and Control Systems such as ICSS (DCS/ESD/F&G), Wellhead Control Panels, HIPPS, Metering and other packages in Oil & Gas projects.
- Capable of producing and reviewing required Instrumentation engineering deliverables for all stages of projects
- Familiar with inter-discipline coordination and document review requirements.
- Participate and provide instrument inputs for P&IDs, C&E, HAZOP, SIL studies, 3D Model reviews and various other Project Workshops.
- Familiar with Instrument engineering and general software’s such as Instrucalc, AVEVA, SPI and MS Office etc.
Job Description
Job purpose & Scope:
- Provide technical expertise to the Company on “Instrumentation & Control Engineering” for
- various Offshore Projects.
- Participate in the update/preparation of Instrumentation specifications and standards for the
- Company.
- Provide engineering support for all Projects executed by “Engineering & Projects” department.
- Ensure design optimization and application of correct international and ADNOC codes and
- standards in various Company’s projects and studies.
- Be a good team member and Coordinate/interact with Company project management team,
- site personnel & various outside consultants for the successful and smooth execution of the projects

Instrumentation Design and Specification
- Lead the design and specification of process instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and actuators.
- Ensure the correct selection and sizing of instruments for various applications based on project requirements.
- Develop and review detailed technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for instrumentation systems.
- Ensure that designs meet regulatory standards, safety requirements, and operational needs.

Control Systems and Automation
- Oversee the design and implementation of control systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Work closely with control system engineers to integrate instrumentation into the overall automation and control system of the facility.
- Ensure that control systems are robust, reliable, and optimized for operational efficiency and safety.

Project Management and Execution
- Manage and lead instrumentation projects, from initial design through to commissioning and final handover.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil) to ensure that the instrumentation system integrates smoothly with the overall project.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members, ensuring high standards in design, installation, and troubleshooting.

System Integration and Testing
- Oversee the integration of instrumentation into the larger control system, ensuring seamless operation and minimal downtime during startup.
- Perform testing and calibration of instruments, including loop checks, functional testing, and performance verification.
- Work with commissioning teams to ensure the proper functioning of the instrumentation system and resolve any issues that arise during startup.

Maintenance and Support
- Provide ongoing support for installed instrumentation systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to performance, calibration, and reliability.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure that instruments are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for instrumentation systems to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Compliance and Safety
- Ensure that all instrumentation designs and installations comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ISA, IEC, NFPA, ATEX).
- Perform safety assessments and hazard analyses related to instrumentation systems, ensuring that systems meet safety requirements such as SIL (Safety Integrity Level).
- Maintain documentation for safety and compliance audits, including inspection and calibration records.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Continuously monitor industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in instrumentation and automation to improve system designs and operational performance.
- Recommend and implement new instrumentation technologies and techniques that can improve system reliability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
