Commissioning Manager

Roles and responsibilities

The Commissioning Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the facility commissioning from inception to completion. This role requires a deep understanding of gas compression systems, project management, and commissioning processes, procedures and requirements. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans, including project timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
• Lead and coordinate commissioning teams, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
• Oversee pre-commissioning activities such as equipment inspection, installation, and testing.
• Perform detailed equipment and system testing, calibration, and performance verification.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the commissioning phase.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality control procedures.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential challenges, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports and documentation including project progress reports.
• Provide technical guidance and support to commissioning team members.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project success.

• Commissioning Planning and Coordination

  • Develop and implement comprehensive commissioning plans, outlining the procedures, timelines, resources, and safety protocols required for the commissioning process.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that commissioning activities align with project schedules and milestones.
  • Ensure that all commissioning activities are clearly defined and scheduled, including testing, inspections, and system verifications.
  • Identify any potential issues during the commissioning phase and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks and delays.

• System and Equipment Testing

  • Supervise the testing of all systems and equipment to ensure they are functioning as designed and meet operational specifications.
  • Ensure that functional, performance, and safety tests are conducted in line with the design and contractual requirements.
  • Manage the review and approval of test procedures, documentation, and results, ensuring they meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Verify that equipment is correctly installed and all supporting documentation is complete and accurate before commissioning.

Desired candidate profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, or related field).
• Minimum of 15 years of overall experience with at least 5 years in direct commissioning roles.
• In-depth knowledge of gas compression systems, equipment, and processes.
• Proven project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., project management, engineering design).
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
