Roles and responsibilities
- Reviews customer’s prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed drugs, and to evaluate their suitability
- Provides the customer with information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage
- Compounds and dispenses medications as prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners
- Ensures understanding the customer’s needs by conducting necessary questioning and providing assistance when necessary
- Achieves sales targets by using sales techniques, up-selling and cross selling of all Super Care categories
- Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, or drugs, maintaining stock storing and handling
- Complies with local rules and regulations in regard to pharmacy activities, including but not limited to preparation, labeling and delivery of medication and other pharmaceutical supplies
- Maintains and reports the pharmacy’s records as required by the external authorities (i.e. Dubai Health Authority, Ministry of Health, etc.
- Liaises with insurance companies to process insurance on time and resolve billing issues
- Handles daily operational tasks such as inventory management, expiry management, merchandising, etc.
- Is Flexible to work in different shifts & location as assigned by the Line Manager in order to fulfill business requirements.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
- License from: DHA or willing to convert MOH/DOH to DHA.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a registered pharmacist.
- Strong Communication skills in English, Arabic/Tagalog.
Desired candidate profile
1. Dispensing Medications
- Prescription Review: Review and interpret prescriptions from healthcare providers to ensure that they are accurate and appropriate for the patient's needs.
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare and dispense prescribed medications, ensuring the correct dosage and form of the medication.
- Medication Management: Monitor medications for side effects, interactions, and ensure the patient is receiving the most effective treatment.
2. Patient Counseling and Education
- Medication Instructions: Provide patients with clear instructions on how to take medications, including dosage, frequency, and potential side effects.
- Health Advice: Offer guidance on over-the-counter medications, lifestyle changes, and other health-related concerns, such as smoking cessation, weight management, and diet.
- Clarifying Instructions: Ensure patients understand how to take their medications and answer any questions they may have regarding their prescriptions or treatments.
3. Drug Interaction and Safety
- Monitoring for Interactions: Check for potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications before dispensing medications, ensuring patient safety.
- Patient History Review: Review patient medication histories to prevent harmful drug interactions and ensure proper medication management.
- Adjusting Medication: Recommend changes to prescriptions if necessary, in consultation with healthcare providers, to ensure optimal patient care.
4. Pharmacy Operations and Inventory Management
- Inventory Control: Monitor and manage the pharmacy’s inventory of medications, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and medications are stored correctly.
- Stock Ordering: Place orders for medications and pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring timely restocking to avoid shortages.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications, prescriptions, and controlled substances in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
5. Collaboration with Healthcare Providers
- Interdisciplinary Communication: Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to discuss patient care plans, drug treatments, and potential adjustments to therapy.
- Clinical Support: Provide expert advice on the selection of medications, dosages, and administration methods, ensuring that the treatment plan aligns with the patient’s medical needs.
6. Regulatory Compliance and Legal Responsibilities
- Adherence to Laws: Ensure compliance with federal and state laws regarding the dispensing of medications, especially controlled substances.
- Licensing and Reporting: Maintain current licensure, and report any adverse drug reactions or medication errors to the appropriate authorities.
