We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with expertise in MEP (Modulars) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all cost and contractual aspects related to MEP projects, specifically focusing on modular construction.
Job Responsibility
- Conduct cost estimation, budgeting, and tender preparation for MEP modular projects.
- Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality.
- Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs, track variations, and provide cost control measures to keep projects within budget.
- Provide regular reports and updates on cost status, potential risks, and cost-saving opportunities to the project team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards in the MEP modular construction sector.
Candidate Requirements
- MOFA attested Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on MEP projects, preferably in modular construction.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, materials, and construction methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for cost estimation and project management.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting
- MEP System Costing: Knowledge of costing for MEP systems, including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, electrical systems, fire protection systems, and energy management systems.
- Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Preparing detailed bills of quantities for MEP components, ensuring that all materials, labor, and equipment are properly accounted for.
- Cost Planning: Developing initial cost estimates and assisting in budget planning for MEP-related activities in construction projects.
- Value Engineering: Providing cost-effective solutions to clients by analyzing designs and suggesting alternatives that reduce costs without compromising quality.
2. Measurement and Valuation
- MEP System Measurement: Accurately measuring the quantities of MEP components, such as pipes, ducts, electrical cables, equipment, and fittings.
- Site Measurements: Conducting site visits to verify dimensions, quantities, and installation conditions to ensure that the work is carried out as per the design.
- Interim Valuations: Preparing interim valuations and progress reports for work completed, ensuring accurate billing for work done by subcontractors.
3. Contract Administration
- Contract Documentation: Reviewing and understanding contracts (such as FIDIC, NEC, JCT) to ensure that they align with the agreed scope of work for MEP systems.
- Variation Orders: Managing and assessing variations to the contract, including any changes to the scope, design, or schedule that affect the MEP work.
- Claims Management: Analyzing and preparing claims for cost overruns, delays, or other issues related to MEP work.
