Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Responsible for managing small projects. Investigates, develops, designs and is responsible for coordinating and monitoring engineering project services for electrical or mechanical installations, systems, equipment, facilities, etc. Establishes and specifies control applications, instruments and operating systems for all purposes of the structural engineering services
Conducts surveys, tests and reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
Identifies activities to ensure that fabrication, construction, installation and commissioning comply with functional specifications and client requirements
Represents the company at technical meetings with clients, professional teams and contractor teams
Prepare specification amendments (Word or Excel)
Ensure that engineering calculations and drawings meet required industry and statutory standards
Responsible for verifying intermediate and graduate engineers’ input into designs
Required Candidate Profile

HND qualification or equivalent degree or experience
Working towards or achieving MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent
5 to 10 years in design or contracting roles
Working towards Chartered Engineer status
Good knowledge of key health and safety issues and legislation
Knowledge of MS Office, Apple Excel etc
Ability to use computerised software for calculations and spreadsheets
Good understanding of BS standards
Ability to prioritise own workload
Ability to work to deadlines Final
Preferably have a background in consulting or construction.
Good understanding of international business and business processes in global consulting.
Act ethically and follow the principles of the Code of Ethics and Ethics Guidelines in the Group’s practice

    • Planning Construction Activities: Site engineers assist in the planning and scheduling of construction activities, making sure that each phase of the project runs smoothly.
    • Coordinating Resources: Ensure that resources such as labor, equipment, and materials are available on time and properly allocated.
    • Liaising with Stakeholders: Communicate with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
  • Supervising Site Operations

    • Overseeing Construction: Monitor construction processes to ensure that work is completed safely, to a high standard, and according to the project specifications.
    • Problem-Solving: Resolve any issues or conflicts on site related to design, construction methods, or materials.
    • Managing Site Teams: Supervise and direct labor crews, subcontractors, and other site staff, ensuring productivity and adherence to project timelines.
  • Quality Control

    • Ensuring Standards: Ensure that the work being done on site meets the required quality standards and adheres to engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
    • Inspecting Materials: Inspect materials used on the site to ensure they meet required quality and safety standards.
    • Compliance with Building Codes: Verify that all work complies with local regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
  • Health and Safety Management

    • Monitoring Safety Protocols: Ensure that construction work is carried out safely by monitoring compliance with safety protocols and managing risks.
    • Conducting Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect the construction site to ensure it is a safe working environment and that all necessary safety equipment is available and used.
    • Managing Hazards: Identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks, ensuring the well-being of workers and the public.
  • Managing Budgets and Costs

    • Cost Tracking: Monitor and control project costs, helping to manage the project’s budget and ensuring that expenditures remain within set limits.
    • Reporting: Provide regular updates on cost and progress to senior management or clients.
    • Value Engineering: Identify ways to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety.
  • Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintaining Records: Keep accurate records of all work done on the site, including daily logs, inspection reports, and construction progress.
    • Reporting Progress: Provide daily or weekly progress reports to project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
    • Handling Documentation: Ensure that all relevant documentation, such as permits, construction drawings, and contracts, is available on-site and accessible to all relevant personnel.
  • Site Logistics and Management

    • Managing Site Facilities: Oversee the logistics of the site, including managing temporary facilities, machinery, and equipment.
    • Handling Site Traffic: Organize traffic management and ensure safe and efficient movement of people and vehicles around the construction site.
