Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Ability to manage/lead a design and approval process interfacing with the project team, Clients and Stakeholders.
  • In-depth and strong understanding of KSA Authority guidelines is a must.
  • Lead the design from Data collection, validation, identify design gaps,
  • Prepare concept master plan stage to Detailed Master Plan in terms of utility corridor space proofing, ROW, coordination with wet, roads, transportation, landscape, and building teams.
  • Full understanding of dry and wet utilities and infrastructure projects from Concept to IFC stage
  • Strong infrastructure engineering background with previous experience on infrastructure projects
  • Thorough experience in power system such as grid stations, primary substation requirements, allocating HV corridor. Understanding of 132/220/400 KV overhead and underground lines, relocation, and protection requirements of dry utilities including power, telecom, and lighting
  • Design/Review of Street Lighting for all type of roads, ROW, Lighting Calculations, SLDs, Load schedules, landscape lighting branch wiring etc.,
  • In depth understanding of design and modelling works for wet utilities including potable water supply, firefighting, wastewater and irrigation infrastructure projects.
  • Review the technical deliverables as per local authority and town planning
  • department requirements for each dry services
  • Attend Client design meetings, kick off meetings, progress meetings, workshops, prepare presentation and lead utilities design as front end when required,
  • Able to work on multiple bids and proposals and assist the team lead and disciplines lead in terms of pricing, methodology and options
  • Excellent knowledge and focus towards to Quality of design, review and take ownership of the deliverables produced and ensure the design safety is followed in all projects including identifying risks, mitigation, and design assumptions registers update


Minimum Requirements

  • 15 years of experience in utilities sector covering both wet and dry utilities. Minimum 10 years in design.
  • Construction Supervision and Building projects are not preferred


Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelors' Degree in relevant Engineering,
  • Preferably Master’s degree in relevant discipline.
  • Chartered Professional (C.Eng.) and holding professional license/certification from the international recognised bodies

    • Power Lines and Substations: These include overhead and underground power distribution systems that transport electricity from power plants to homes, businesses, and industries. Substations are critical for stepping down electrical voltages for safe distribution.
    • Utility Poles and Transformers: Electrical poles and transformers play a key role in distributing power and converting high voltage electricity to usable levels for residential and commercial customers.
    • Street Lighting: The installation and maintenance of street lighting, which ensures public safety and visibility on roads and public spaces.
  • Telecommunications and Data Networks:

    • Fiber Optic Networks: These are high-speed internet systems based on fiber-optic cables, which carry data signals at a much higher bandwidth than traditional copper wires. Fiber optic networks are essential for modern communication, internet access, and data transfer.
    • Telecommunication Lines (Cabling and Wireless): Infrastructure for telephone, internet, and cable services, including both underground cabling and above-ground telecom towers, antennas, and fiber optic networks.
    • Data Centers: Buildings and facilities that house servers, routers, and switches to ensure smooth data transmission for businesses, government agencies, and telecommunications providers.
  • Natural Gas Infrastructure:

    • Gas Distribution Pipelines: The pipelines that transport natural gas to homes, businesses, and industrial customers. These can include main pipelines, service lines, and pressure regulation stations.
    • Regulation Stations: Facilities that ensure gas is delivered at a consistent pressure and volume to the end-users.
    • Metering Stations: Devices that measure the amount of gas consumed, often located at the point where gas enters a property or facility.
  • Waste Management Infrastructure:

    • Waste Collection Systems: These include underground systems for the collection of waste, often involving designated pathways and networked bins, as well as the routes used by waste collection trucks.
    • Recycling Systems: Infrastructure for recycling and composting waste, including drop-off centers, sorting facilities, and transfer stations.
  • Street and Roadway Infrastructure:

    • Paving and Roadworks: While roadways themselves are typically considered civil infrastructure, the installation of the necessary conduit, signage, drainage, and other utility systems as part of roadway construction is integral to dry utilities.
    • Traffic Control Systems: Including overhead signals, cameras, road signs, and underground signal cables for traffic management.
