Roles and responsibilities
- Review the Contractor's material submittals and obtain the required approvals according to the applicable standards and project specifications.
- Serves as the focal point for the scheduling and control of construction materials and equipment at the job site
- Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
- Coordinates work of subconsultants for material testing
- Maintains office files related to the project, material inspections and writes daily diaries.
- Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract
- Verifies that only approved materials are incorporated in the work
- Recognizes potential conflicts, issues and problems on construction materials, and reports to supervisor with proposed solution
- Collects, reviews and files Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used.
- May provide technical guidance to lower-level
- Participates in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports
- Participates in the development of quality control reports and procedures
- Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts
- Observe, check and record works execution is in accordance with approved methods
- Check material delivered are as approved and properly stored
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience.
- Equivalency certificate is a must.
- At least 10 years of overall experience in quality assurance / quality control in Infrastructure, roads, landscape and related works
- Experience in the construction of infrastructure, landscaping and road projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred in Abu Dhabi
- Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment
- Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs
Desired candidate profile
- Material Science Knowledge: Strong understanding of the properties and behaviors of various materials (metals, polymers, ceramics, composites).
- Characterization Techniques: Proficiency in using techniques like microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing to analyze materials.
- Material Selection: Skills in selecting appropriate materials based on performance requirements, cost, and environmental factors.
Design and Development
- Process Engineering: Knowledge of manufacturing processes and how they affect material properties (e.g., casting, welding, additive manufacturing).
- Failure Analysis: Ability to conduct failure analysis and determine root causes of material-related issues.
Project Management
- Research and Development: Experience in leading R&D projects to develop new materials or improve existing ones.
- Project Planning: Skills in planning and managing projects, including timelines, budgets, and resources.
Analytical Skills
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing data from experiments and tests to make informed decisions.
- Simulation Software: Experience with software for modeling and simulating material behavior under various conditions (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
Communication Skills
- Technical Writing: Ability to write clear and concise reports, research papers, and technical documentation.
- Collaboration: Skills in working with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
