Roles and responsibilities
The Senior Fabrication Operations Specialist uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Operations (Fab) discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Operations (Fab) discipline. The Senior Fabrication Operations Specialist solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Fabrication Operations Specialist impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Operations (Fab) team and other related teams and ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the Fabrication Engineer assigned to the shop
- Coordinate and review the activities of the various department contributions to the execution of the work
- Review the Project plan along with Planning, Production Engineer, and Fabrication Personnel
- Directly involved in the development of Level 5 schedule for pre-fabrication work
- Review and assess the shop capacity in line with the pre-fabrication schedule requirement and provide
- Coordinate with the Fabrication Coordinator to ensure the pre-fabrication work packs and procedures are available to meet the pre-fabrication schedule requirement.
- Coordinate with the Fabrication Coordinator and Material Management Team to ensure the availability of the material as per the pre-fabrication schedule requirement.
- Attend weekly pre-fabrication shop meetings and Project site meetings
- Identify and monitor manpower and special tools requirements along with the project Pre-fabrication Superintendent and Yard Shop Superintendent
- Ensure that any Quality and Safety problems raised are actioned by the relevant personnel
- High standard of safe working practice, quality, and productivity as well as compliance with the code of business conducts
Desired candidate profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of nine (9) years of experience in fabrication operations within the EPCI industry, with a strong focus on Fabrication Operations
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering fabrication projects, including fabrication yards, offshore platforms, or onshore facilities
- In-depth knowledge of fabrication methodologies, processes, and techniques, with a strong understanding of welding, coating, NDT, and lifting operations
- Proficiency in utilizing project management tools and software to plan, monitor, and control project activities
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of effectively leading a diverse team and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to fabrication and construction activities
- Familiarity with industry-specific software and technologies, such as 3D modeling, ERP systems, and digital twin platforms
