Roles and responsibilities
- Ensure that all project Health, Safety and Environmental policies are complied with.
- Ensure that the design meets all Technical Safety requirements and maintains risks to as low as reasonably practicable.
- Assist Lead / Senior Engineers in performing layout Analysis and defining the Inter-distance requirement between equipment.
- Produce Various Safety Philosophies such as HSE / Loss Prevention Philosophy, Fire Detection and Protection Philosophy & EER Philosophy.
- Carry out Hazardous Area Classification updates to drawings and schedules in accordance with IEC/EI standards
- Carryout active and passive fire protection assessments including, but not limited to, fire water demand, fire water adequacy checks, hydraulic calculations using PIPENET spray/ /transient modules
- Defining Fireproofing requirements for critical structures, equipment supports & pipe racks, Instrumentation etc.
- Develop Fire Fighting and safety Equipment drawings, P&IDs, Escape Route and safety sign drawings with support from drafting teams.
- Preparation purchasing documentation for firefighting and safety related equipment such as MR, Specifications, Data Sheets and Technical Bid Evaluation.
- Review Vendor Documentation with support of Lead Engineer
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate safety into the design and operation of oil and gas facilities.
- Develop F&G Layouts, ensuring proper coverage and functionality, with support from drafting teams.
Safety Studies
- Basic knowledge in QRA/FRA/FHA/EERA/Noise contour and shall be able to interpret the results / recommendations to HSED deliverables.
- Prepare ToR, SoW for ENVID, HAZID, QRA, SIL, ALARP, HAZOP and other safety workshops
- Independently co-ordinate & handle Safety Workshops like Document collection, Coordination with external workshop chairman, etc.
- Safety workshop Scribing using PHA Pro and preparation, issue & action close out of Safety Workshops
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent technical Degree)
Experience Profile
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position
Competencies/Skills/Others
- Demonstrated subject knowledge and competence.
- Previous FEED, EPC experience in Onshore and Offshore Greenfield and Brownfield design.
- Full understanding of international safety codes and standards such as NFPA, API, ADNOC, SOLAS, DNV etc. and the theory behind them
- Pragmatic and self-motivated; able to work under tight deadlines.
- Experience in ADNOC projects will be highly desirable
Requirements
- The engineer must have excellent written and communication skills in English and in particular should have the ability to simplify technical discussions for non-technical teams.
- Proficient use of MS Office Suite
