Roles and responsibilities
The job requires excellent design safety expertise to carry out HSE-related activities for oil & gas projects. The Technical Safety Engineer will be expected to take complete technical responsibility for their design and guide the team of designers in the day-to-day execution of the project activities.
- Being accountable for the quality of Technical Safety deliverables.
- Ensure that all project Health, Safety and Environmental policies are complied with.
- Ensure that the design meets all Technical Safety requirements and maintains risks to as low as reasonably practicable.
- Achieving project completion to the project specifications on schedule.
- Participating in project HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, and other safety workshops when required and experience in coordinating HAZOP, HAZID, SIL Classification studies and other HSE workshops.
- Defining safety philosophies and fire, spill & gas detection philosophies.
- Firewater and foam demand calculations.
- Performance of Fire Water Hydraulic modelling using PIPENET or similar
- Firewater and foam network design, including siting of hydrants and monitors.
- Active fire protection system design (deluge system & foam system) for hazardous equipment.
- Hydraulic analysis of firewater and foam network.
- Preparation of Fire Fighting System P&IDs.
- Hazardous area Classification.
- Defining Fire Proofing requirements for critical structures, equipment supports & pipe racks in the plant.
- Performing layout Analysis and defining the Inter-distance requirement between equipment.
- Preparation of Escape route, safety signs and safety Equipment Layout.
- Preparation & Coordination of Vendor related activities such as Supply Specifications, RFQ, MTOs, and datasheets for safety, life-saving and firefighting equipment.
- Actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
- Self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives, and industry technology development

Qualifications
- Bachelor or equivalent degree in Chemical / loss prevention / environmental
- Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
- Must have offshore subsea cables experience in the same role
- Experience of working on concept, FEED and offshore EPC project phases
- Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
- Expert knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation, international codes and standards
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
- Experience in gas processing FEED experience is mandatory

Emergency Preparedness: Knowledge of emergency response planning and procedures to ensure readiness for potential incidents.
