Roles and responsibilities
- Monitor and control the status of the simulators in the fleet and report to Manager Flight Training Facilities-MFTF on device availability, reliability and issues of operational concern across the fleet. Update flight training to ensure optimum rostering for devices.
- You will manage a team of Senior Engineers, setting objectives and identifying technical and developmental training needs. The job holder must apply specialist technical knowledge and must priorities issues with operational or regulatory impact as well as continue to provide direction ensuring consistency across the fleet.
- Maintain and manage the modification status of the training devices across the fleet in accordance with international regulatory requirements. Monitor aircraft fleet developments to assess Flight Training impact and recommend an appropriate plan for training device modification or update. The job will involve technical interaction with EK Engineering, Flight Training, Flight Operations Performance and Engineering and external airframe and avionic suppliers.
- Identify device technical specifications and scope of updates. Device updates may be complex and involve external interaction with agencies and suppliers. Analyse budgetary requirements for device updates and report and recommend to MFTF. You will manage the project lifecycle.
- To ensure technical documentation for training devices is appropriately updated and published for devices within fleet; and ensure common training functionality across devices to maximise device utilisation.
- Ensure that device status reports for local and international regulatory authority are completed for the certification of the training devices within the fleet. Present the training devices to international regulatory authorities for certification in conjunction with the Manager Quality Assurance and Audit-MQA&A.
- Manage and plan activities in order to ensure allocated tasks and projects are completed within the required cost and time scales to maintain or meet operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain close technical and support links with industry training equipment and avionics suppliers. Monitor training device supplier released service bulletins for applicability to fleet and take appropriate action.
- Maintain technical specifications for future training device procurements in cooperation with the FTF Projects Manager. Continuously update with technology and regulatory advances to ensure that device specifications meet current and future industry training philosophy.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent).
- Minimum of 8 years solid experience in Engineering Flight Simulator.
- Professional experience within the simulation and training equipment industry, with strong flight simulation technical background.
- Track record of managing medium to large technical projects with experience of justifying, planning and implementing new solutions.
- Must be able to promote and gain acceptance of new technical solutions with FTF Management and Engineers.
- Experiential knowledge will also be a significant factor in assessing situations and planning resolution of problems encountered.
