A European multinational manufacturer of mining equipment and heavy construction machinery is recruiting a qualified mechanical engineer having 58 years of experience in the diagnosis repair overhaul and maintenance of these machines. Candidates having workshop service and/or field service will be considered. Mechanical technicians with similar experience and a diploma holder application will be accepted. Overseas candidates will be considered.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy earthmoving machinery including bulldozers excavators loaders and mining trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical hydraulic and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and techniques to determine the root cause of equipment malfunctions.
- Conduct onsite inspections repairs and maintenance in various environments including remote mining locations ensuring minimal downtime for equipment.
- Oversee the installation testing and commissioning of new machinery and equipment at customer sites ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and training to customers on the operation maintenance and safety procedures of heavy machinery and mining equipment.
- Assist in the identification ordering and management of spare parts inventory to ensure availability and reduce equipment downtime.
- Maintain detailed service records including work orders maintenance logs and repair documentation ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards during service operations ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel involved.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on equipment performance and suggesting modifications or improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Facilitate communication regarding technical issues warranty claims and product updates.
- Be available for emergency callouts to address urgent mechanical failures and ensure that critical mining operations continue with minimal disruption.
- Review and interpret technical manuals blueprints and schematics to ensure proper understanding and application during repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Work closely with other engineers technicians and site supervisors to coordinate service activities and share technical knowledge.
- Monitor and control maintenance and repair costs by optimizing resource utilization and minimizing unnecessary expenditures.
- Stay uptodate with the latest advancements in heavy machinery and mining equipment technology through ongoing training and professional development.
