We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Director of Transportation Procurement to join our rapidly growing logistics firm. This pivotal role is responsible for all aspects of transportation procurement strategy, including the development and execution of cost-effective and high-performance transportation solutions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our global supply chain team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our organization's logistics operations.

Responsibilities

As the Director of Transportation Procurement, your key responsibilities will include

  • Leading all aspects of transportation procurement activities, including sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Developing and implementing strategic procurement plans that reflect our business goals.
  • Driving cost reduction initiatives through the effective use of procurement tools, systems, and methodologies.
  • Managing relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Utilizing SAS to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Overseeing large account management and ensuring financial acumen in all procurement activities.
  • Staying updated with market trends and emerging technologies in transportation and procurement.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation procurement or a related role.
  • Proven experience in large account management and financial acumen.
  • Advanced skills in ILPS (Integrated Logistics Planning Services).
  • Proficiency in SAS or similar data analysis tools.
  • Exceptional negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
