- Design and development of road infrastructure projects, including feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed designs, and preparation of technical specifications.
- Conduct engineering assessments, analyse data, and evaluate road conditions to identify and recommend appropriate design solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate road design with other infrastructure elements, including but not limited to drainage, utility, street lighting and landscaping.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards throughout road project design and construction phases.
- Supervise and monitor junior engineers, providing guidance and technical support to facilitate their technical development.
- Liaise with clients, authorities, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate project requirements, resolve technical issues, and addressing any concerns.
- Monitor project progress, review design changes and manage risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support in the preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies and cost estimates, contributing to the development of proposals and bids.
- Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.
- Maintain required technical quality of work.
- Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to discipline work scope.
- Assist Lead Engineer and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with minimum of 10+ years of experience.
- Professional engineering accreditation from a recognized institution is preferred.
- Proven experience in designing and managing road infrastructure projects, preferably within an engineering consultancy environment.
- In depth working knowledge of Middle East Road design standards, regulations, and best practices in the region.
- Approved status by local authorities (e.g., RTA, DOT, and DM).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex engineering challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent project management abilities, including the capacity to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines and allocate resources effectively.
- Strong technical knowledge of highway design principles, standards and software skills (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation).
- Delivering projects in BIM common data environments, application of Navisworks and similar 3D modelling tools for design and clash detection would be advantageous.
- Able to create base design models from agreed work scope with minimal guidance.
- Computer literate (database / spreadsheets)
- Ability to accept delegated responsibility for designated tasks.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
