- Imaging Procedures:
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Position patients correctly and safely to obtain clear and accurate images.
- Operate radiographic equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI scanners, and fluoroscopy machines, following safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Adjust imaging parameters, such as exposure settings and contrast levels, to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Patient Care and Safety:
- Ensure patients are informed about the imaging procedure and provide support and reassurance throughout the process.
- Verify patients' identities and medical histories to confirm appropriateness of the procedure.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions during or after the imaging procedure, taking appropriate action as needed.
- Image Processing and Analysis:
- Process and analyze imaging studies to ensure technical quality and diagnostic accuracy.
- Review images for clarity, proper positioning, and pathology, consulting with radiologists or other healthcare providers as needed.
- Document imaging findings accurately in the patient's medical record, including any observations or abnormalities.
- Equipment Maintenance and Quality Control:
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment to ensure proper functioning and image quality.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, following established protocols for maintenance and repair.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, such as image quality assessment and performance monitoring, to uphold standards of excellence in diagnostic imaging.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging studies and contribute to patient care decisions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures, addressing questions or concerns, and providing instructions for follow-up care.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless delivery of services.
