Qualifications And Experience
You will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:
- Minimum Certificate of Competency as a Master of vessel greater than 500 GRT or (in line with STCW 2010 Manila Amendment)
- Minimum 10 years as Master – longer experience is an advantage
- Served in an accredited Maritime Academy and Training centre
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Valid STCW 95 training courses (in line with STCW 2010 Manila Amendment)
- Experience as a Master Trainer including extensive use of simulator is an advantage
- Proven ability to set a high standard of performance and develop the team to reach this standard.
- Lead and model health, safety, security and quality procedures in all your work procedure
- You must possess strong leadership skills and success at influencing at all levels of an organisation
- Proven experience in training and developing Masters and others from the deck department, including completing gap analysis and developing training programs to bridge the knowledge and skills gaps
Key attributes
- Broad maritime industry experience with proven problem solving skills
- Analytical and strong customer service and client focus
- Familiar with local PNG culture and experienced with a multi-national work force is an advantage
- Team leading skills and ability to get the best out of an individual
- Ability to coach existing and newly joined fleet Masters, transfer knowledge and practical skills
