- Lead, direct and administer skilled workers engaged in welding activities onboard and workshop
- Ensure all necessary plant and welding equipment are maintained in a current operable and calibrated condition.
- Ensure consumable control requirements are closely followed and workers are properly supplied with tools, equipment and materials.
- Prevent wastage and misuse of equipment, materials and tools.
- Ensure WPS for particular work scopes are displayed and the welders are aware of the requirements and comply with same.
- Exercise discipline at work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness.
- Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
- Assist the senior foreman and supervisors in planning activities.
- Ensure that the workers are properly supplied with machineries, tools, equipment and materials and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance.
- Perform inspections to ensure that the workers performance is up to the set standards.
- Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSEQ concerns.
- Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the Oil and Gas or ship building industry
- Familiarity with welding works with at least 3 years of experience as Foreman or Lead position.
- 2 years trade apprentice course.
- Diploma in engineering or equivalent
