Job Description
- Drives and operates heavy construction and off-road equipment including front-end loaders, high lifts, crawler tractors, backhoes, compactors, pavers, graders and excavators at a work site to dig trenches, backfill, street and ground openings, asphalt street paving and tamping, and loading, lifting and setting pipe.
- Operates air compressors, pumps, and other power equipment at construction sites.
- Controls and maneuvers heave construction equipment by using switches, moving levers and foot pedals, and applying knowledge of equipment operations.
- Inspects equipment for operating condition, checking fluid levels, cables and hoses for wear and replacing worn parts to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Changes oil and lubricates moving parts at regularly scheduled intervals to ensure efficient performance of equipment.
- Prepares work activity reports.
