English Trainer (Part Time)

The American University in the Emiratesseeks an experienced English Trainer to join the team. The role is to provide AUE students language development services to support their academic success. Also the English trainer supports students to achieve their academic goals and develop the skills needed to meet their educational career and personal goals using the full range of AUE institutional and community resources.

• IELTS Preparatory Course
• TOEFLPreparatory Course
• Advanced English Language Course
• IntermediateEnglish Language Course
• Beginner English Language Course

Qualifications & Experience

• A minimum requirement of Bachelors Degree in American/English Literature or Applied Linguistics or related field from an accredited university.
• At least 2 years of experience in teaching English in a university setting is required.
• Experience in teaching IELTS/ TOEFL courses is preferred.
• IELTS imimum score of 8.0
• Preferrably native English speakers

Job Description

1. Help students develop English language skills in the following ways namely preparation for TOEFL and IELTS tests and language development in beginner intermediate and advanced English development courses.
2. Coordinate the development of academic literacy through the writing lab with both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
3. Extend English language support to the students who met AUE language entry requirements but still struggling with their studies.
4. Provide academic personal advising and counseling in terms of writing and communication development.
5. Review revise and enhance the English Language program curriculum students assessment and activities.
6. Engage with lecturers concerning the academic writing of their students.
7. Market and create awareness of the writing lab amongst students in the AUE.
8. Support and engage with post-graduate masters students to help improve their academic writing.
