Specialist - Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Our client, a leading Pediatric hospital, is currently looking for a Specialist - Children and Adolescent Psychiatrist to be based in Dubai. In this role, you will be responsible to:

• Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a sub-specialized branch of Medicine that focuses on helping children, adolescents experiencing a wide range of mental health problems and their families.
• Diagnosing mental disorders in this age group is complicated by several factors: children may have difficulty expressing themselves, clinical presentations may vary according to the developmental stage, as well as other genetic and environmental factors.
• Professionals in this field apply variety of skills to assess and manage children and adolescents with mental illnesses
• To work as part of a multidisciplinary team that may include other child mental health professionals such as child psychologists, nurses, social workers, and others. Work involves liaison with other agencies such as schools and social services.
• Requires an ability to understand issues from a range of perspectives as it usually involves working with the child/young person’s carers as well as the child or young person.
• To provide comprehensive assessment and management of children and adolescents presenting with mental disorders including but not limited to Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Psychiatric comorbidities in children with developmental delays, Mood disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Adjustment to medical illnesses & psychosocial stressors and other conditions. Although most of our work with children, young people and their families is done in out-patient clinics, there are opportunities to work in a variety of settings. Inpatient services are limited but are available for those young people in crisis or with serious mental health problems.
• Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist follow a bio-psycho-social framework in clinical care. They are trained in a variety of intervention skills include psychotherapeutic interventions and pharmacological treatments when necessary.
• Interacts with children, visitors in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner
• Interacts with members of the healthcare team in a manner that demonstrates respect, effective communication skills and promotes teamwork
• Documents all relevant information correctly, appropriately and in a timely manner
• Promotes safe patient care and a safe environment by embracing a Culture of Safety and identifying proactively areas of risk and the timely reporting of adverse safety events.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

• Doctorate in Clinical Psychiatry from an accredited institute/college/university
• A minimum of three (3) years as Clinical Psychiatrist in a multidisciplinary clinical setting or hospital or a mental healthcare service provider.
• Eligibility for professional license Psychiatry Consultant as per Dubai Health Authority- Regulations qualification criteria
• Willing to be based in Dubai, UAE
