Senior Business Manager

• A manager in the media/film/entertainment industry.
• Work side by side with the Head of Production across all projects from pitch to greenlight to ensure covering the business aspects of the deal.
• Review agreement contracts.
• Experience and relations within non-theatrical, pre-sales, and distribution MENA & International markets.
• Tie MAF business goals to strategy, mining information from various sources, investigating the various interests of the parties involved, proposing strategy, and collaborating with a wide variety of creative and business experts to achieve objectives
• Work closely with MAF Finance team to monitor cost actuals through close of job, process production invoices
• Work with internal Finance from pre-bill through project completion
• Proactively manages all account transition documentation
• Participate in project scoping discussions, providing the Head of Production with accurate estimates for talent session fees, usage, residuals, and all other talent and music related costs of production
• Advise production team on union rules, tax credit, regulations and best practices.
• Evaluate and manage union claims, tax credits, audits or reporting requests
• Create and negotiate vendor agreements.
• Work closely with internal legal team to issue production and talent agreements and contracts
• Handle, along with the Head of Production, negotiation for talent and music
• Ensures best practice principles and protocols are implemented and adhered to and in line with internal policies and those as per project contracts.
• Jointly accountable with external stakeholders for driving efficient and effective deployment of approved technologies on productions.
• Assists in the assessment of the financial viability of content ideas, identifying and mitigating any risks.
• Ensures appropriate financial support is provided by Finance on high financial risk/complex productions and/or across a portfolio of productions.
• Monitors and reports on performance against objectives and key performance indicators.
• Engages with partners and their staff in shaping and planning projects, championing rationale to ensure smooth deployment and adoption of production.
• Supports other divisions (e.g. Technology, Procurement, and Property) with the development and implementation of their strategies.
• Builds long term relationships with internal and external stakeholders and productive working relationships with team members and external contacts. Seeks opportunities for collaboration across the region with key partners and promotes a climate in which information and knowledge is openly shared.
• Reviews scripts and discusses production ideas with internal production colleagues.
• Meets regularly with different production department heads, including costume, set design, and lighting, to ensure they are meeting the production budget and schedule.
• Works very closely to comply with the requirements from the MAF Ventures -Risk and Compliance team on a regular basis.
• Assists in handling any risk & compliance issues which arise during the production.
• Strategizes on potential post-theatrical revenue streams along with the Head of Production.
• Working with the contracts team to ensure that deal negotiations are being handles efficiently
• Ensures commissioning requirements are fully understood to develop viable proposals.
• Accountable for ensuring the price of each film project is agreed with commissioning and that complete delivery is feasible within the proposed timeframe.
