Position Overview
The MEP (Mechanical and Plumbing) QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all
MEP systems and installations meet the required contract standards and specifications. The
inspector will perform regular inspections witness tests and audits to maintain the quality and
functionality of MEP systems. The role requires a strong understanding of MEP systems
industry standards and quality assurance/control processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inspection and Testing
o Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical and plumbing installations to
ensure compliance with design specifications codes and standards.
o Schedule and witness regular testing of MEP systems including HVAC
systems plumbing systems and fire protection systems.
o Document and report any nonconformities or discrepancies found during
inspections.
2. Quality Assurance and Control
o Implements applicable QA/QC procedures and checklists for MEP systems.
o Ensure that all MEP installations comply with project requirements and industry
standards.
o Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship used in MEP installations.
3. Documentation and Reporting
o Maintain accurate records of all inspections tests and audits conducted.
o Prepare detailed reports on the quality and compliance of MEP systems.
o Communicate findings and recommendations to project managers engineers
and contractors.
4. Coordination and Communication
o Work closely with project teams including engineers contractors and other
inspectors to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems.
o Provide guidance and support to contractors and subcontractors on qualityrelated
issues.
o Attend project meetings to discuss QA/QC issues and progress.
5. Continuous Improvement
o Stay updated with the latest industry standards codes and best practices
related to MEP systems.
o Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and
knowledge.
o Identify opportunities for improving QA/QC processes and procedures.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in mechanical or equivalent
Experience: Minimum of 35 years of experience in MEP QA/QC inspection or a related
field.
Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g. ASHRAE NFPA or other industryrelated
certifications) are preferred.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of MEP systems construction codes and industry
standards.
Skills: Excellent analytical problemsolving and communication skills.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with QA/QC software and tools as well as basic office
software (e.g. MS Office).
Working Conditions
The requires working on construction sites which involves exposure to various weather
conditions and physical activities.
Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours to meet project deadlines.
Reporting Line
Reports to the QA/QC Manager or Project Manager
