MECHANICAL ENGINEER

THE PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The primary purpose of the Mechanical Engineer role is to ensure the successful design implementation and maintenance of mechanical systems in various construction and engineering projects. This includes ensuring that all mechanical aspects of a projectsuch as HVAC fire protection plumbing and other systemsare designed and executed in compliance with both local and international codes and standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review mechanical design plans models specifications and related documents for compliance and to ensure proper design and verify equipment selection.
• Familiar with Local and International Codes such as (IBC IPC UPC ASHARE SMACNA NFPA UAE Fire and Life Safety Code).
• Prepare working shop drawings and coordinated one with other services.
• Review of Material Submittals and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Interact & coordinate with other engineering disciplines & construction teams.
• Manage nonconforming works generating reports corrective actions and coordinating responses.
• Monitor site activities to verify continuous compliance with approved plans specifications and applicable codes.
• Witness site inspections and commissioning activities as needed.
• Advise and consult with architects engineers subcontractors builders on mechanical requirements.
• Attend site visits and resolve field related issues.
• Perform site visits to confirm existing conditions
• Provide technical support to management and leadership.
• Knowledge of mechanical codes and ordinances including energy efficiency provisions.
• Review shop drawings (such as HVAC Fire protection system BMS gas etc.)
• Keep senior team members informed of important and relevant service/design changes

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 810 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a strong background in design review and site supervision.
• Experience in working on complex projects within the GCC region is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in reviewing mechanical design plans shop drawings and material submittals.
• Proficient in reviewing and interpreting mechanical design plans models specifications and related documents.
• Strong knowledge of Local and International Codes such as IBC IPC UPC ASHRAE SMACNA NFPA and UAE Fire and Life Safety Code.
• Proficiency in preparing and coordinating shop drawings with other engineering services.
• Indepth understanding of mechanical codes and ordinances including energy efficiency provisions.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit and other design software for preparing and reviewing mechanical shop drawings.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools.
• Strong skills in using MS Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint etc.).
