PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Instrumentation Designer to oversee and lead the instrumentation design activities for Oil & Gas projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in instrumentation design project management skills and the ability to lead a team of designers effectively.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage a team of instrumentation designers to deliver detailed engineering designs and specifications for instrumentation systems across multiple projects.
- Develop and review Instrumentation Index Datasheets Loop Diagrams P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) Instrument Location Plans and other technical drawings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards company guidelines and project specifications in all instrumentation designs.
- Coordinate closely with engineering disciplines (process mechanical electrical) to integrate instrumentation designs into overall project deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers ensuring their professional development and growth.
- Conduct technical reviews inspections and audits of instrumentation designs to ensure accuracy quality and adherence to safety standards.
- Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to support material procurement construction activities and commissioning of instrumentation systems.
- Participate in design reviews HAZOP studies and risk assessments as required.
- Stay updated with industry trends technological advancements and regulatory changes related to instrumentation engineering.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Instrumentation Engineering or related field. A Masters degree may be preferred.
- Proven experience of 5 years as a Lead Instrumentation Designer in an Engineering Consultancy within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation) and other engineering design software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g. ISA API IEC) applicable to instrumentation design.
- Experience in leading and managing a team of designers with demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problemsolving abilities and analytical skills to resolve complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver within project deadlines.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (Preferred).
- Experience with SIL (Safety Integrity Level) analysis and certification (Preferred).
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices (Preferred).
- Previous experience in conducting design optimization and value engineering studies (Preferred).
