The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies consequence modeling and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) using specialized software. This role requires a deep understanding of international safety standards and regulations to ensure compliance and enhance the safety of our processes.
Key Responsibilities:
HAZOP Studies:
Lead and facilitate HAZOP studies to identify potential hazards and operability issues in process systems.
Document findings and recommend corrective actions to mitigate identified risks.
Consequence Modeling:
Perform consequence modeling to evaluate the potential impacts of process safety incidents.
Utilize specialized software to simulate scenarios such as fire explosion and toxic releases.
Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA):
Conduct QRAs to quantify the risks associated with process operations.
Develop risk matrices and recommend measures to reduce risks to acceptable levels.
Compliance with International Standards:
Ensure that process safety practices comply with international standards and regulations (e.g. OSHA EPA NFPA ISO).
Stay updated with changes in safety regulations and incorporate them into company practices.
Safety Code Requirements:
Interpret and apply relevant safety codes and standards in the design and operation of process systems.
Ensure that all safetyrelated documentation is accurate and uptodate.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare detailed reports and presentations on safety studies assessments and recommendations.
Communicate findings and safety improvements to stakeholders including management and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering Process Engineering or a related field.
Extensive experience in conducting HAZOP studies consequence modeling and QRA.
Proficiency in using safety and risk assessment software such as PHAST PHAPro or similar tools.
Indepth knowledge of international safety standards and codes (e.g. OSHA EPA NFPA ISO).
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification in process safety (e.g. CCPS TUV Functional Safety Engineer).
Familiarity with environmental regulations and their impact on process safety.
Experience in the chemical oil and gas or manufacturing industries.
